Can we make the best just a little better? Yes - we make it a bit simpler, easier to use and add some grip!

My favorite filament clip until today was the “Grandma's favorite filament clip” by Extrutim. There was a thing I did not like: If you choose the Version that rests on the filament during print, there was not enough force to hold the clip in place during storage and if you choose the other versions the usage was a bit fiddly.

The key for these problems was just as simple as genial: all parts were just on the model, but simply for another reason.

I reworked the hole so that it grips the filament tightly during storage while still leaving enough clearance during the print. Then I cut off every part that was not longer needed.

The created filament clip works even better than its big brother and successfully prevents the filament from tangling!

Be careful to assemble the clip the way shown in the pictures. If not, the filament may free itself. The bottom has to face the spool, you have to look at the upside during assembly.

Give it a try, it only costs 0,5g (~20cm) of filament and 5 minutes of your time.

I recommend using PETG or other hard and heat resistant filaments that can Rest on the spool during drying process. I printed in 0,2mm. The clip can not hold flex filaments. It cannot build up tension due to the flexible properties of the filaments.

Please leave me a like. I'd also love to see your prints and hear your opinion.

Happy printing!

In the end I want to show to you, how to end up a print and secure your perfectly winded filament in under 20 seconds. With an auto spool rewinder it should shurely be much more easier and faster!
