WARNING:  IGNORE THE FILE ERRORS.  DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE TRY AND REPAIR THE MODEL.  IT WILL NOT WORK.  THIS FILE IS PRINTABLE AND YOU CAN IGNORE ALL OF THE ERRORS.

UPDATE: JAN 24 - floating element removed.  Model shouldn't need to be lowered to bed anymore.  PLEASE USE V2!

Make used for the display picture by SnowAngel1881 on Thingiverse!

Print in 0.16mm or higher res for best details.  The fins benefit the most here but also the eyes and head detail.  A lot is lost once you jump to 0.2mm

0.6mm nozzle is fine, this print has been optimised to print that wide for strength.

No supports necessary.  May need resizing to your bed as mine was printed large.

Practically no cleanup required if you have your stringing dialed in.  You'll probably see a little on the fins as they're very thin but otherwise really clean inside due to the thicker posts.

PLEASE LIKE AND RATE if you print this successfully, share your make!  I wanna see more of these baddies!

WHY DID I MAKE THIS?

This is a testament to the power of Prusaslicer's latest tools for modifying your models.  And also my terrible layer management

I have no 3D modelling experience, but my friend wanted me to print this for his little sister, and I wanted one for myself.

The problem with the original model was that extrusions were too thin, and certain walls couldn't exist even on 0.4mm nozzles.

I reworked this model over about a month and had about 25 test prints that failed.

My remix of this model used negative volumes to remove the merged articulating post and link wall for the head and neck pieces, and I used individually sized cylinder parts merged to the model to increase each articulating point from a single 0.6mm extrusion to minimum of 3 perimeters, with the heaviest parts of the model having 4-5 perimeters.

I also hacked the bottom off and stretched it significantly.  This did create a noticeable seam, but it's not horrible and it fixed the final remaining weak point of the model which was that the posts only had 0.4mm of supporting layers attaching it to the bottom of the model.  I have increased this to roughly 2mm and it has shown no signs of weakness so far.

I have included ONLY the .3mf file as the Ender Max Neo I use has a weird bed offset position, and because you may need to resize it to fit your bed.  Also, Prusa can't export boolean parts so any negative modifiers are not exported in the stl so the head modification, which in my opinion is the most important part to articulate.

The bottom strength is integral as some of the wing pieces originally were incredibly thin.  They also have more gap so the wings and feet move much more easily.

I printed mine on my Ender3 Max Neo with the brand new Creality Sprite SE direct drive extruder for the Neo series.  Amazing mod.  Highly recommend.
