Description
A sand mold to create a temporary ashtray, including a captive sieve/strainer to separate and transport cigarette butts.
Cigarette butts are the most littered man-made waste item in the world and are simply a disgrace to find in a nice place where you intend to sit down.
Since the filters (cellulose acetate) rather than any ash or left over tobacco are of concern, this design aims at them not being left in the sand. The sand itself is stil used as heat resistant material for an ashtray. → Maybe giving the inclined user a nice and easy way to discard the cigarette butts properly later on helps to keep places clean.
For everyone more interested in reading about the problem rather than printing the item:
Recommended for printing is a 0.2mm layer height. Material at one's discretion, I opted for PETG because it tends to be nice and warm when I am at the beach.
Preferably generate the sieve by using a modifier in the slicer. Besides having a choice of style and hole size, printing will run much smoother. - A hole size of around 5mm seemed fine to me.
Grab your sand ashtray mold from your collection of beach toys.
Create a temporary ashtray with the sand mold.
Use that ash tray as any other one and collect the butts in it.
