KME to EdgePro/Hapstone Knife Sharpener

I had a KME sharpener and wanted the best of both worlds. With a simple change of the nut, you can quickly use your KME rod and stones on a EdgePro/Hapstone like base. This allows you to slide the blade and get a consistent angle on long blades.

Thanks to CNC Kitchen for his base design. The clamp is removed from the KME and the plate is set aside (you just need the KME ball joint and nut).

There is a straight rail included like the EdgePro and for more complex spines, a sliding toe guide. There are 3 sets of holes in the bottom of the base that will allow you to install 10mm x 2mm magnets but I personally don't use them. The base will have tabs to help support the bridge while printing. Just cut the tabs with some flush cutters.

Some improvements I could possibly make in the future:
-Mine is mounted to a piece of wood with some holes but I realized its hard to turn the wing nuts for the guide rail.
-I had originally designed tool-less parts, but I opted for a more robust setup that requires an Allen wrench. You can source knobs to print if you'd like.

You will need the following hardware:
1 x 0.5" Aluminum Tube or Rod (at least 5 to 6")
4 x M5x16 Cylinder/Socket Bolts (Base/Clamp for Tube)
4 x M5 Hex Nuts (Base/Clamp for Tube)
2 x M5x20 Hex Head Bolts (Guide Rail)
2 x M5 Washers (Guide Rail)
2 x M5 Wing Nuts (Guide Rail)
