Description

Use-case:

Use this hand knob for everything that is held together by a M6 or M8 screw or threaded rod. It is intended to press on with its front side (the side with the smaller diameter). Thanks to the trough-hole, the screw or threaded rod can be of arbitrary length.

The original design was made for M8, but thanks to user Lukas, we now know that it fits very well to an M6 nut if printed at 75% scale.

Based on feedback from one of the users, I have now also uploaded a lid without a hole. Feel free to use that if it fits to your application.

Assembly:

The metal M8 nut is simply laid into the knob, then the lid is pushed on and the nut sits tight. The lid can be pushed in with moderate force, no hammer or vice should be needed. The downside of the simple assembly is if of course that the lid and the nut may fall out, if you push on hard towards the screw. I propose to secure the lid with a few tiny drops of superglue (make sure not to mess up the thread of the nut with glue).

Printing instructions:

Print both parts in their respective uploaded orientation. I propose to print the hand-knob with 100% infill and the lid with 15% gyroid infill.

If you want to use this part for an M6 nut, you need to scale it to 75% in PrusaSlicer.

Material:

PETG is typically better for functional parts, but PLA should also work.

Happy printing!
