Description
My beautiful wife who is also a maker, created and sold Christmas ornaments that had ribbons. She made thousands of them. Guess whose job it was to cut ribbons for them, all at the same length? Me. 😲
Fortunately, I have a 3D printer and an amateur-level understanding of CAD. So I created this "jig" that allows you to cut many ribbons or strings to nearly the same length, extremely quickly!
How to use:
Print two of these. Tape them down to a desk or something with the center posts spaced apart the distance you want the length of the ribbons or strings to be. Wrap your ribbon or strings around them multiple times - I once wrapped an entire 10-meter spool of ribbon around them!Â
While holding the ribbons in place, insert a pair of scissors into the groove, and cut!
Now, carefully holding the ribbons on the cut side in place, move your scissors to the opposite jig, and cut them there too. BOOM! 🤯Now you have multiple strings or ribbons that are roughly the same length.
With this tool, I made about 3,000 6 inch long ribbons in about 45 minutes.
