Description
Since i wanted to print a special part on my XL, and FAILED multiple times. I experimented, and it seemed that this was caused from missing part cooling. Ive been designing and modifing this Side covers (Pre- prepared for Enclosure), with heavy part cooling over the whole print plate.
As you can see in the images the Part cooling is good. This part was printed in pla.
You will need to order 2 Fans, similar to the ones Bamboo uses in their case for Part cooling… i thought, why search for a good one, if this works.
Apart from that maybe a pwm Controller to regulate the Fan Speed. Im pretty sure, there are people that will find a clever solution to hook it up the the xl. I planned the fans to be 24V to be compatible to the Power Supply from the XL. So they should be easy to hock up to them.
There are also cable guides built in and also a hole to mount an original Spool holder on the right side. For People who wants to use it. The Orange sidestrip is only painted on with the slicer.
You can also replace the Fan covers to your need. I thought you may want to change the design to your own.
-----------------------------------------------
Whats missing? :
1. Pass trough (Original frame-front-cover.stl ) for a Potentiometer on the front to control the Fans
2. I want to copy the whole thing to the left with covers to be closed. Simply this way it Optical Symmetrical, and also for the crazy people who want to add another 2 , to a total of crazy 4 Fans. DONE 29.10.2023
3. I already have nice fittting tested hinges for the front(acrylic doors). I just need to adapt them to fit on all 4 sides. The holes for the hinges needed to be thread cutted. I didnt want to use nuts here, but you should be able to drill it open, und simply use nuts. DONE 26.10.2023
4. Cable guide between the 2 covers, for under the Z axes.
5. Guide for the frame nuts. This makes it easier to position the nuts.
-----------------------------------------------
This is a multipart (multicolor) print. You will need around 48 Hours in Printing Time with a 0.6mm Nozzle on the XL with Input Shaper.
Print Tips for specific parts:
You will need 3x m4 (15mm length) with Nuts for each side Panels tto connect the Top and Bottom part together.
Of course its needles to say, that you should print this side Covers with at least PETG if you are going to use it completly enclosed. If not, simply use pla.
The fans i used are from here from a
German Shop) https://www.roboter-bausatz.de/p/radialluefter-12032-24v-4-draht . Of course you can simply Google: Radial Fan 12032 or buy the Bamboo labs fans.
