Monitor Mount Adapter block for 3M Command Jumbo Hooks

I wanted to mount a computer monitor on my wall without damaging my wall. So, I turned to 3M Command hooks, which can be removed without damaging the wall. A correctly-shaped block of wood would have worked, but this is 3D printing, right? This design is probably overly complicated & overkill in terms of the amount of weight supported, but I didn't feel like having the thing come off the wall and falling on my laptop.

I temporarily placed the hooks in contact with the adapter blocks with scotch tape for placement. I figured the exact placement on the monitor/wall wasn't as important as the pieces themselves mating in the same locations. This would allow me to take the monitor down and add components to the back (like a Raspberry Pi) before replacing it on the wall, etc.

I used rubbing alcohol to clean the part and the back of the monitor before affixing the adapter block/hook assemblies with extra 3M Command strips (two for each block): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0751VFF2P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Clean the wall with rubbing alcohol and let dry. I carefully peeled the paper backing from the strips on the back of the hooks & positioned it to the wall (you get one shot at this!) Then, carefully cut away the scotch tape and take the monitor down (leaving the hooks in place on the wall). Firmly secure the 3M Command strips behind the hooks/blocks and replace the monitor.

Print instructions

I printed these adapter blocks in PLA with three perimeters at 10% infill. "Draft" grade print settings will work just fine for this print — just be sure to print the adapter blocks on their sides for max strength. For my overkill configuration, I used 4 adapter blocks and 4 hooks, providing a theoretical total load-bearing capability of 20+ pounds, even though the monitor only weighs about ~7 pounds.
