Description
With the GoPro-style mounting components being so wide spread, there is little use for an off-center quarter inch mount on action cameras like the Yi4K+. Sure, it is nice that it does not need a cage like older cameras, but giving it a GoPro style connector makes it much more versatile. And yes, there are commercial parts available for very little money that do just that. The advantage of this homemade part is that it moves the connecting point to where it belongs, right under the center of gravity.
Printing is simple, just print it in the uploaded orientation. No supports are needed. I recommend PETG as material, as it is less brittle than PLA.
I found this part to be very strong and I trust that it holds my camera securely. Use this part at your own risk anyway!
By the way: If you are interested in the homemade mini-tripod for action cameras that is shown in the pictures, here it is: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/39814
And if your action camera should not have a quarter inch connector, you may be interested in this cage that I published a while ago: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/58802
