Use case

Whenever you have to cut a cable and need to reconnect the ends, or if you have to extend a cable, a terminal clamp (also called luster clamp) is what you need. Often these clamps are simply wrapped in electrical tape, which is notorious for either being sticky and dirty after a while, or it comes of altogether. This box seals the clamp nicely (but not 100% water tight of course).

Printing

Both parts are very easy to print. Just put them on your print bed in the uploaded orientation and slice them. The default settings in PrusaSlicer (2 perimeter, 4 bottom, 5 top, 15% infill) are actually fine. However I recommend 100% infill, to avoid exactly one layer of infill, which is silly. No supports are needed.

Material

The orange print in the pictures was made from PETG from DasFilament.de, but I am fairly sure that PLA would also work. Out of a habit, I always do all my functional prints from PETG.

Design notes

Yes, I know that the outlet oval is 7mm on the top case and 6mm on the bottom case. That is intentional. The bottom case is supposed to grip the cable (although a zip tie around the cable is no harm to hold it even better). The top case fits snuggly but not tightly on a normal 3x1.5mm² cable, to ensure perfect cosmetics on the snap fit (to ensure that it is not bent outwards by the cable).

Disclaimer

Electrical current can cause injuries and death! Make sure you know what you are doing when handling electrical wires, I take no responsibility whatsoever.

Please like it if you like it

Your satisfaction is my reward. Please like this part if you like it. Or even better, post a picture of your print, that totally makes my day.

Happy printing!
