Description

Organize your 3D printing filaments with this simple and effective filament storage solution for IKEA Kallax shelves.

This easy-to-print design consists of two parts: one for the front side and another for the back of the shelf. Print the parts, and attach them to the shelf with an 8mm rod (metal or wood) in the middle to create a sturdy and functional filament storage rack.

Since you could want to have more than one shelf with filament side by side, there are two variants, chamfer and nut, to be able to assemble them side by side with screw and nut.

Features

  • Holds up to four 1kg filament spools per rack
  • Compatible with IKEA Kallax shelves
  • Simple and easy to assemble

Printing

The parts will not endure much stress since they will be in contact with the bottom of the shelf so PLA can do the trick just fine.

Bill of Materials

  • 8mm rods (metal or wood): usually sold at 1m long, each rod can be split into 3 parts, each with 333.3mm. Since each IKEA Kallax shelf has 335.0mm, taking into account that each printed part has a 5 mm height, should be enough to have some clearance but not enough to fall apart.
  • M3 screws and nuts

Tips

  • For a more durable solution, use metal rods.

Enjoy your organized filament storage!
