Description

On watching PRUSA Live episode26 and hearing about the Timekeeper competition I knew exactly what I wanted to make.

I couldn't make a space clock face without using Prusa Galaxy Black PLA filament!

The face is 170mm diameter, 3mm thick and a 8mm diameter hole for the clock mechanism. 

The size was a conscious decision to be able to print on both Prusa FDM machines.

The clock numbers and two star constellations are printed on top of the face.

The Constellations being Orion (and its glowing star ‘Betelgeuse’) the other being ’Pleiades' the logo of Subaru, (a fantastic constellation to view with a pair of binoculars), being new stars they have  a beautiful blue colour.

I wanted to add something else so I added the Galaxy and Comet by hand, I used a wooden tooth pick/cocktail stick and a mixture of acrylic paints, using a dabbing action.

I purchased a cheap clock mechanism online, I needed one with a second hand to have the spaceship running around.

Initially I created the hands in the same filament as I knew I wanted to paint the objects bright silver and at first glance give the appearance they are floating in space. 

I ran into a problem with the second hand as I used my own pin to hold it in place. Unfortunately I could not get the friction I needed to make it work with the rocket.

Therefore I used a hand that came with the clock.  I cut it down to size before gluing a stand-alone rocket to it.

I have include a couple of clock hand that may work. But to make life easier I have added all models as stand-alone to glue to the clocks hands.
