Description

I use a FoodSaver vacuum sealer to store my filament between prints because it may be months before I use that same spool again.  while vacuuming the bag closed, the spool tends to get squished causing the spool to warp. On a Bambu AMS (or any spool holder that relies on the spool being round and not warped) this is a problem. So I created a silica box that keeps the spool from getting squished. I fill them with silica beads and put 3 of them on a spool. That provides enough support to keep the spool from being warped. I usually wait until I have 3 or 4 PLA spools that only have a few grams left and string them all together to print the boxes. The result is some interesting rainbow-colored boxes but it does the job.  I put a lip on the top to keep the spool from being sucked into the middle of the spool. Once the vacuum sealer starts adding pressure the top lip keeps it in place while the flat bottom is held in place because it can't push out on the other side of the spool.  I did NOT put a lip on the bottom of the spool because then it wouldn't have a flat edge to print on. A lip on the bottom would probably help, but I didn't want to deal with any post-processing. As such, this prints without supports or brim. The teeth of the front can be a bit of a torture test if you're struggling with stringing but otherwise it's a pretty simple print. 

Note: The reason it's called “better spool box v4" is because it's better than v1 through 3 which I didn't bother to share… they were that bad.
