The idea for this came from my son, who, due to an autism spectrum disorder, was nonverbal for a long time and only now, at the age of 6, is beginning to speak.

We used the frames with Metakom cards (Pictograms) and our own pictures to create a planner for the basic daily routine. This way, he can see and participate in what will happen when and with whom. It provides him with security and structure in his daily life, and he can also have a say in what should be done aside from the fixed appointments, such as going to the playground, etc.

Furthermore, we use the cards with various meals on the refrigerator so that he can choose what he wants to eat. The whole system is a dynamic one that we have constantly adjusted and expanded. Nowadays, we use it only to roughly structure the week, as he can speak more and no longer relies on the cards for communication.
