Description
The angle of the web cam in the conference room where I work was too low, so I remixed a ball and socket mount and designed this mount for hanging a webcam off the bottom of the TV.
The “top ball” attaches to the “mount top” with a M5 16-20mm screw and nut.
The mount top uses the screw to attach to the bottom of a TV from 40mm-62mm thick (1.5"-2.25"). There needs to be a small amount of frame on the bottom of the TV for the small lip to hold on to. I would also recommend adding a rubber bumper to the end of the screw so it doesn't slide on the TV's hard plastic. Because the threads are printed horizontally and not vertically, it takes a bit of massaging to get the screw in the first time. Just work it slowly back and forth and it cleans up pretty quickly.
The Mid Link is from the original design by BMan @BMan_353512 and you can print as many or as few as you need.
The bottom link has ¼-20 threads in it. Just cut the head off of a ¼-20 screw or bolt and thread half of it into the bottom link. The other side will then fit the standard camera screw for mounting the webcam (or technically any camera/camera accessory).
I printed all my links vertically from PLA with a .2mm layer height, and none of them broke when snapping together.
Theoretically you could potentially use this mount to attach to the top of a screen as well, but my specific TV didn't have a frame at the top, and the top would have been too high of an angle for the application. If you are using it on a computer monitor though, it might work on any side of the screen.
To use this on a 3D Printer, simply use a slightly longer M5 screw through the “Top Ball” and into the end of the 4040 extrusion to the right or left of the bed in front and just build up from there!
