HexCase Simple for RPi 5 and Noctua Fan 40mmx10mm

Makes Wanted: Seeking information for revision/improvements.

HexCase TallFlatFanTop fits the Raspberry Pi 5 and Noctua 40mm 4 pin PWM fan

The Vented base is interchangeable with the Simple Base.

All HexCase RPi 5 Bases fit All Hexcase RPi 5 Tops

PiCooler best solution for cooling after some trivial testing/cost analysis.

The Fan Stand is 2.5mm taller so there is more room under the fan for tall heatsinks including the Pi Cooler but it is a tight fit.

The stands are different sizes… the tall one won't work with the shorter tops.

The Hex vented base is actually a few degrees cooler than the unvented case bottom.  Weird.

Overview:

Start with the Base. assemble the Button, drop in the Raspberry Pi 5  then the Stand and the Noctua Fan, attach the GPIO pins and finally attach the Top lower edge which snaps into the Base and compresses the Stand onto the RPi PCB, creating a tight fit and does not require screws (screw boss' provided if you want to use screws).

Assembly:

Note:  Remove SD Card before assembly and disassembly to avoid damage.

Button:

Insert Button with flat edge up into Base (specific hexagonal opening…see render). 

Button will shut down and start up RPi5.

Drop in rPi5 into Base (light press down and make sure it settles into pcb support)

Place Stand over RPi5 at screw boss locations.

Drop in Noctua Fan (Manage the wires/ Dupont Connectors.)

Attach to GPIO (see Github instructions)

Top:

Install Top by carefully snapping the interference fit flange of the top cover into the base starting at the RJ45 and USB end, and gently squeeze the button end or front into the base near the lower corners.  See image provided.

Top Removal:

  There are areas cut back over the ethernet and USB ports for clearance which creates a way to assemble and remove the top simply by prying up near the USB connectors with a fingernail.
