Phone mount and charger for SKODA Octavia IV

As probably all SKODA owners realise very quickly after purchasing the car, the integrated Qi charger is useless… It never works and if it somehow does, it overheats the phone. Furthermore, when you put your phone there, you cannot see the screen and there is at least a 50% chance, that you forget your phone in the car when you arrive in your destination.

Im not a big fan of the vent mounts and i like symmetry, so i designed a modular phone mount to hold the phone in the middle od the car below the screen.

The mount copies the curves of the dash and uses double sided tape to attach to the car.
I recommend to use the thicker/foamier/rubbery double sided tape for best adhesion, 3M VHB tape is the best option.

The mount is modular, so you can change the magpuck holder, if you want to use a different charger. Be warned that cheap Chinese clones of the magsafe puck have weaker magnets and the phone may fall off.

Printing instructions:

chose the design you like better of the “top sticker” file
Print 1 copy of the rest of the files
print im something more heat resistant than PLA (I used PETG)
print with many perimeters and 30% infill

-important- holes are intentionally undersized so you can drill them out and tap them based on what hardware you have.

Recommended hardware:
1x M4x30 bolt for the top sticker
4x M3x14 bolst for the rest
drill and tap holes accordingly
 

you can probably get away with using no extra hardware (except the magsafe puck) and just glue it togehter. The original holes are 2mm so you can use small pieces of filament for alignment and reinforcement.
