But I don't remember what that thing is anymore

I love Steven Wilson's music, and so I created a set of 3D printable abstractions to represent his discography.

This can be used as a beverage coaster, or just for display. It is square like a CD or vinyl album sleeve.

This is his 7th solo studio album, The Harmony Codex, released in 2023. It is an eclectic yet cohesive collection of songs that explore different genres seen in Wilson's career, tied by the loose theme of climbing an infinite staircase, and just keep moving forward.

I avoided the actual album cover as a lithophane or MMU-only photo. Instead, I simplified it into something friendly for FDM regular setups, inspired by album art and tour merch. 
While the actual album cover is simple and geometric, it would require at least 11 colors. My design is inspired by the actual orange vinyl disc from certain editions, so that it can be printed with two colors, retaining the staircase motif.

Printing slowly helps with definition of letters and to reduce imperfections, 20mm/s for example. Input shaper ok.
Infill at least 15% to hold top layers or text above, but you can play with patterns and higher percentages.
I didn't use brims or rafts, but you can if you experience warping, especially in the square corners. Temporary water-based adhesive is useful too.

• No supports
   
• Pause-and-change-filament at certain heights to have different colors, even with a regular FDM setup. With MMU it's even easier
   
• Scale to whatever size is convenient for you. If the height is too deep you can scale it down in the Z axis
   
• Feel free to experiment with colors and top fill patterns
   
• Adaptive layers can help speed up through just square parts, and then have more resolution on text above.

I printed the one you see in my photos switching from orange to black, it has no top layers to leave the Hilbert Curve infill exposed, which I chose because it fits well with the staircase motif, it looks like steps or a labyrinth.
