Description

Yesterday, I saw a post on reddit about this crazy looking, tiny chess board built into a ring. I went searching for it and traced it to a website, last updated in 2015, Making Stuff. There, a man named Joe Turner explains what he made the ring out of and that it isn't actually playable.

I decided right then and there that I needed a fully playable version of this in my life.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get it as small as Joe's due to limitations of 3d printing. As it is, you have to be gentle with the pieces when you're setting the magnets. Also, you will need a total of ninety-six 3mm x 1mm magnets. One for each chess piece and sixty-four for the board.

The board will require a multi-colour printer or painting skills. I have never used Prusa slicer so I'm not sure if the option exists, but if you can split an object into parts like you can in Bambu Studio, then I suggest that's what you do with the board to make it easier to colour.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE ORIENTATION OF THE MAGNETS AS YOU'RE SETTING THEM INTO THE PIECES/BOARD.
