This is my “improved” version of Bosco Lau's fantastic Ender 3 Magnetic Hotend. I haven't made any major changes to his design, just slightly improved fitment, printability, and the diversion ratio for the print cooling fan to more evenly provide airflow from both outlets.
UPDATE: Tested this on my friend's Ender 3 and it works great!
List of changes:
- Changed 5015 airflow duct ratio to send more air towards the longer path for more even cooling.
- Added a small divot for 5015 fan case clips. Allows the fan to sit more flush towards the duct opening.
- Improved overhang printability of heatsink exhaust ports on both sides, allows for printing without supports.
- Improved back of 4010 fan mount with chamfers to allow for printing without supports.
- Added 2nd screw hole for 5015 fan (Completely optional)
- Lots of chamfers and fillets, fan duct, outside surfaces, part cooling nozzles, etc.
Printing Settings:
- A “Bridging angle” of 90° is recommended so the 5015 fan duct long bridges don't sag excessively inside the duct.
- In the .3mf file attached, I've added my recommended paint-on supports and support blockers which have worked perfectly on my Prusa Mini.
- Medium infill percentage with 2-3 perimeters.
- Recommend printing the base mount in a high-temperature and creep-resistant material like polycarbonate.
