Description

This is a multi-purpose clamp with a maximum opening of 25mm or one inch.

Use cases

Typical use cases are to hold things together, like I do on the bottom of my motorbike tarpaulin. They are also useful for hobbyists, makers, RC plane builders, etc. to clamp parts together until the glue is dry. The main advantage over spring loaded clamps is that the pressing force can be fine adjust, to avoid damage to the parts.

I am sure there are many more use cases. Please let me know what you do with these clamps.

Printing

These parts are easier to print than one might think. Both parts should be printed in the uploaded orientation with no supports required. I.e. the screw should be printed standing upright, the clamp should be printed laying on it's side. The thread is optimized for 3D printing, hence it will work like this. (Pitch is 2mm, flank angle is 90°, diameter is 8mm). 

Printed on a Prusa Mini in PETG, the thread worked well for me right out of the printer. Printed on an Ender3Pro in PLA the thread needed a bit of wear-in, but then it worked perfectly well. PLA has the big advantage that threads wear in great, due to the friction heat that smooth out the surfaces of the thread.

In this case I recommend PLA over PETG, because it is harder and bents less. Also it wears in very nicely as said above. 

I propose to print the parts with 100% infill. That gives them really great strength. For moderate use cases (like my tarpaulin) you can use 25% infill also.
