Steering Wheel Stand for Phone or Tablet: Park & Watch
Spending some time in your parked car? The steering wheel phone stand lets you quickly and easily set up your screen when you want to pass the time in your car. Simply unfold the stand and set up for easy “front and center” viewing for your phone or tablet on the steering wheel. The collapsible design folds up compact for easy storage, and opens up wide for a stable platform on the wheel. As long as the front of the steering wheel is sloped back just a little, the phone can lean back and sit stable against the flat surface created by the unfolded stand.

Can this be used while driving?
Certainly not. Using a screen while driving poses several safety risks. This is not to be used while driving; only when parked. Even if somebody tried, it would fall off as soon as the wheel was turned. This was intentionally designed NOT to clip onto the wheel, but only set on top and be held by gravity, thus it cannot stay in place if you're driving.
Printing & Assembly
- Due to the high temperatures that can occur in a parked car, use a filament that can withstand high heat such as PETG, ABS, or ASA. PLA is known to warp in these temperatures and so is not recommended.
- Assembly is entirely snap-together (see the assembly video in this post). This was done to make the model more accessible by not requiring people to get hardware. Also, the custom pins sit flush with the outer surfaces and don't protrude, thus keeping the design more compact and not interfering with the phone.
- Parts are oriented in the print profile for ideal strength and appearance. If you're printing from the STLs, refer to the “3D preview” on this page to see how everything is oriented (this may be more obvious for experienced 3D printer users).
