Description
I've had my Anet A8 Plus for three years, and had replaced the Y axis bearings twice in that time. Since the A8 Plus has its Y axis motor mounted vertically, as the bearings wear, the heated bed will begin to skew to the left in front as the bed moves forward, and to the right in front as it moves back. The least costly modification I could imagine for correcting this behavior was to upgrade the 8mm rods and bearings to 10mm rods and bearings.
These are the rod mounts I'm using for this upgrade.
I recommend printing these parts as they are oriented in the STL files. They print easily without supports printed in this fashion, and the parts should be much stronger than if they were printed as oriented when mounted on the machine.
I've included three files here. “10MM_A8_Y_Rod_Mount_A.stl” is the standard mount, three of which are required. “10MM_A8_Y_Rod_Mount_B.stl” has a provision for attaching the endstop switch, one is required. The third file is a plated version which includes the required mounts for a single print.
I recommend printing these with 100% infill for added strength.
You'll need bearing carriers for the LM10 bearings to complete this upgrade. I'm currently using these: https://www.printables.com/model/876916
