Description

Purpose:

Having modified my Bug-A-Salt with a Picatinny muzzle mount and stock adapter (see my other models), I wanted a usable Picatinny rail mount to use the awesome SlingKontrol sling holder that Qwerm uploaded: https://www.printables.com/model/623550-slingkontrol-v11

I found a great Picatinny Rail by spoc on Thingiverse that I used for a scope in front, which is angled so far forward to be able to sight in well at a close distance these shoot at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3721604

Parts:

  • SlingKontrol parts:
    • 2x 8mm M3 screws
    • 1/8th inch shock cord (elastic cord)
  • How I mounted mine:
    • 2x 12mm M3 screws and nuts for keeping the SlingKontrol tight on the Picatinny rail
      • I'd probably just recommend using glue instead under the SlingKontrol - I had to carefully drill holes through both pieces to keep this down tightly against the rail, but it works fine without any screws also. It will just rattle around a tiny bit otherwise without anything.

Printing:

  • I printed the rail on the flat end with supports.
  • My print is in Prusament Galaxy Black PETG

Assembly:

  • Print all parts, and follow Qwerm's SlingKontrol guide on how to build the sling keeper with shock cord and the 8mm screws.
  • Snap the SlingKontrol onto the Picatinny rail, and use glue or screws to keep it secure if desired.
  • Snap the Picatinny rail onto the Bug-A-Salt.

Files:

I've included the snap-fit parts for the SlingKontrol, the 4 leg Picatinny rail, and also the original 4.8 degree angled 6 leg rail I have in front.

*General safety Disclaimer*
Any parts of this project are for the Bug-A-Salt 3.0, while not a toy, is not a firearm. This is intended to add functionality to a product that fires table salt to kill insects. Please print this responsibly and understand the implications of modifying this tool which may more closely appear as a functional firearm. I'll only be using this indoors, so if using “in public” you might want to print this in more obvious colors, etc.
