How to get the best print with text on a background:
- Arrange your filaments so that the printer selects them to print the colored text first. E.g., for the first layer, PrusaSlicer selects the tools in order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. The Second layer, it hits 5, 1, 2, 3, 4. The Third layer, it hits 4, 5, 1, 2, 3. And so on. I tend to flip the print over so that the text prints directly on the plate for the first layer.
- Print at the lower end of the filament's temperature band. I use Polymaker filaments which can use anywhere from 190º - ~225º. The higher the temperature you use, the more likely you will have stringing/fuzzing of the lettering. That's not good.
- Slow the print down. I've had intermittent first-layer failures even using the “Structure” speed on PrusaSlicer. Depending on the size of your lettering, you'll want to monitor that first layer, which is obviously the most sensitive one.
- Optional, one might use a bed adhesive. I use good old-fashioned Aqua Net. Laugh all you want but I rarely get a failed print when I use it.
- Also option, when printing small text, I use a single perimeter, especially since it's not being used in the structural sense.
