MGB Rear License Plate Mount Frame
Mounts a US license plate on the back of an MGB.
I lost the license plate mount for my 1972 MGB so I designed this simple mounting solution. It only mounts the top of the plate; the bottom is in free space, but it still works well.
The compound curve matches the body, but you could also use some foam gasket between the mount and the body if you wanted.
Print in PETG or ASA for sun and heat exposure.
Hardware required:
2x M5 heat inserts
2x bolts and nuts for mounting (I think I used ¼-20, but you could use metric)
2x M5 by 15mm or less screws for mounting plate.
I printed mine in 2 pieces with the split function in Prusaslicer using dowels to attach the halves. That required the least amount of support. Minor support is still required for the rounded edges if you print upside down, or tall support necessary for the lip on the top of the frame if you print right-side up.
