I realized at some point that the Mercury Plus could be a very powerful magnetic stirrer if the magnets were positioned closer together on the spinning plate. Since I never use the wash feature, this conversion was perfect for me. The stock plate comes with 4 magnets, this conversion only uses two of them and thus two are left over.

Unfortunately the new magnet position will not spin the impeller inside the plastic container. A new impeller design using the remaining two magnets would fix this problem however I will leave that work to someone else.

This mod is fully compatible with the UV plate, so of course UV functionality is unaffected.

See images for installation...it is fairly self explanatory. I would recommend putting a dab of super glue on the magnets before installation as they are now exposed and the UV plate can pull them off on removal. I am using an old screw bit as my stirrer.

Regarding the hood bypass (to operate while open), the part will not work as-is if the filament color is black (absorbs sensor light). If all you have is black filament like myself, glue a piece of paper to the sensor-facing side.
