Box-Bottle Alcohol Dispenser

Imagine an indispensable assistant seamlessly integrating into your everyday life, quietly performing its task. You use it constantly, without even thinking about it. But what do you do when the dispenser keeps tipping over if it has less than half the amount of alcohol left? These thoughts have been occupying my mind lately. Additionally, I noticed lock boxes and decided to try printing one using a borrowed design. It inspired me! Afterward, I created my own version, making several modifications. I increased the rigidity of the ribs, making it easier for the printer to print. I changed the lock and improved the watertight seal, which, by the way, can be purchased ready-made from foam rubber, silicone, latex, or printed using TPU. Now I have a few of these boxes—not too many, but not too few, if you know what I mean. Throughout the development process, I experimented with various options, and while they all served their purpose, today I want to tell you what happened next... when the box met the bottle.

That's how the idea of creating a non-tipping container and an additional watertight lid came about. The internal treatment process became a crucial aspect. You see, printed objects may appear watertight on the outside, but liquids can easily seep through the layers, especially if ABS is used, which is my preferred material to work with. Therefore, I resorted to using a powerful solvent—dichloroethane. By meticulously treating the container's walls, I achieved a completely watertight bottle. Now the dispenser is also stable and reliable.

As for the axial pins, I used 2mm diameter bicycle spokes. Although pre-made pins of this size can be found on the market, I didn't have the exact ones at hand. In any case, I had to clean the holes after printing. For this task, I used a long reamer, but of course, other tools could suffice...
