A proof of concept for an impact detector.

Inspired by the Shock Watch, except using a different mechanic to avoid patent infringement.

Proof of concept, not intended for real-world application.

Not rated for specific g-force thresholds, especially because quality control would be impossible between different printers, materials, and slicer settings.

I'm not sure what this door mechanism is called, so I've coined the term check flex, in reference to a check valve.

Printing

Print 1 of each model. They should already be in the correct orientation.

Printed with:

• PLA
• Arachne perimeter generator
• 0.4mm nozzle
• 0.2mm layer height

I suggest using red filament for the backplate and green filament for the puck. (Or some other color consideration to cater to the deuteranopics?)

Assembly

See the video for an assembly demo.

• Requires a plain M6 nut.
• A screwdriver is shown in the video - but isn't needed for the puck-cap drive slot. It's just a vestigial element from a previous iteration - although it does help a bit.
• Groove joint pliers are recommended for pressing the puck together.

1. Push the M6 nut into the cap
2. Push the lid into the cap
3. Make sure the puck subassembly is pressed together as tightly as possible.
4. Fit the body into the plate
5. Fit the flexures into the body/plate
6. Put the puck into the center of the flexures
7. Place the lid
