QMH Parametric Round Bins (Quick Mount Hook System)

Looking for straight edges? Be sure to check out my QMH Parametric Rectangular Bins here!

Looking for shelf? Be sure to check out my QMH Parametric Shelf here!

I built this OpenSCAD script so you can easily generate custom, round containers specifically designed for the Quick Mount Hook (QMH) system, without needing to know any CAD software.

Just tweak a few sliders in the customizer to set your exact outer dimensions, wall thickness, independent chamfers, front slope, and even a honeycomb drainage floor. The script handles the hard part for you: it mathematically calculates and integrates the exact mounting layout for the QMH adapters right into the back reinforcement pillar. No manual measuring, no overlapping artifacts, and no messing around with negative volumes in your slicer. Just generate the bin, print it, and slide it directly onto the QMH adapters on your IKEA Skadis or custom pegboards.

Everything prints in one single piece—no screws, no glue, and no assembly required. Just print the bin, slide it onto your previously printed QMH adapter, and you're good to go.

How to Customize Your Bin:

  • External Dimensions: Set the exact outer diameter and total height of your circular bin.
  • Wall Thickness: Control the thickness of the outer walls and the floor. I highly recommend leaving the back wall thickness at a minimum of 7mm so the QMH cutouts fit perfectly and the mount stays completely rigid.
  • Rear Reinforcement: Automatically match the rear mounting pillar height to your bin, or set it completely independently (e.g., make it shorter to save filament on tall bins). It includes a customizable stress-reducing fillet (gusset) for ultimate load-bearing strength.
  • Top Edge Chamfers: Achieve a premium look with independent chamfer size controls for both the main cylindrical bin and the rear mounting pillar. The script automatically guarantees flawless, solid joints.
  • Top Edge Slope: Angle the front wall down for an ergonomic "scoop" shape. You can drop the front edge anywhere from 0% (flat top) to 100% (sloped perfectly flush with the inner floor edge). The script’s surgical cutting plane completely protects the floor base and the rear reinforcement.
  • Honeycomb Floor / Drainage: Swap the solid bottom for a hex grid. It saves filament, speeds up the print, and lets dust or liquids fall right through. You can even set it to an entirely empty floor (tube style).

Recommended Print Settings: For the best fit and strength, here is what I usually use:

  • Layer Height: 0.20mm (The QMH locking mechanism is specifically optimized for 0.2mm layers).
  • Infill: 15% - 20% Gyroid works great.
  • Walls/Perimeters: 3 wall loops.
  • Bridging Settings: Since the model is engineered to be completely support-free. I highly recommend setting your Bridge Speed to 15 mm/s and Bridge Flow Ratio to 0.8 for the cleanest possible overhangs inside the hooks and on the top edges.
  • Supports: NONE. The model is engineered to be completely support-free. Using supports might actually jam the QMH lock mechanism, so leave them off.

How to Generate Your Bin:

  1. Click the green "Customize" button.
  2. Plug in your dimensions and settings.
  3. Click "Generate" and download your custom STL.
  4. Slice and print!

If you come up with a really useful layout please upload a print profile and drop a photo in the comments. Seeing what you guys make helps me improve future versions!
