Description
Anchor Down Reminder is a simple boating safety accessory designed to hang on the helm, steering wheel, or keys whenever the anchor is deployed. It helps prevent one of the easiest mistakes to make after overnight docking or extended anchoring: leaving port with the anchor still down.
This reminder gives captains and crew a simple, highly visible warning whenever the anchor is deployed. The tag can be fitted with a small rope, paracord, lanyard, or keychain and attached wherever it is most effective for the skipper, including the helm, steering wheel, throttle, dash, or keys. Its purpose is to provide a clear physical reminder not to leave port until the anchor has been retrieved and secured.
This is especially useful when docking overnight stern-to-stern with a houseboat or in any situation where the anchor is left deployed until morning. A visible reminder placed in the skipper’s line of sight helps prompt a final anchor check before departure.
Leaving with the anchor still down can create a serious hazard, including damage to the boat and the risk of snagging underwater lines, utilities, piping, or structural cabling in lakes, rivers, and marina areas.
Print it in a bright color, hang it where it will be easily seen, and use it as part of your normal departure checklist.
Attachment / Use
The reminder tag can be mounted with a small rope, paracord, lanyard, or keychain and attached wherever it is most convenient for the skipper, such as the helm, steering wheel, throttle area, dash, or boat keys. This makes it easy to position the reminder in a highly visible location based on the boat’s layout and the captain’s routine.
