FYI.. there will be soldering involve since you need to connect the wire to the LED strip.. i used a black wire with a switch that i can run the wires inside of the desk lamp arm and through the model too.. i used the white wire to get the same color scheme.. you can get the white wires here on my aliexpress affiliate link..
The millennium falcon main body comes in 2 parts.. the front and the back.. there are also 4 pegs to merge the 2 half of the ship body together.. and 2 clips on each side of the millennium falcon to lock the 2 half together.. i seperated the satelite dish and the gun turrents too for easy 3d printing..
The whole ship will be held by an aluminium tube about 60-70mm length depending on how far apart you want the ship to be from the extending arm.. you'll need to drill a hole in the tube so that you can secure the tube with a m3 screw..
I 3d printed and painted the ship using airbrush painting.. its best to color prep the print before assembly..
I masked the cockpit windows and paint over them.. so when i remove the masking the light from the LED would shine through the cockpit..
I used a single LED strip and just add it inside of the cockpit.. i also added a channel for the LED wires to go to..
Wiring
First you'll need to gut the ikea lamp desk.. taking off the lamp and wires.. leaving only the base and the arm..
then i ran my 5v USB wires into the channel of the arm frame.. there should a at least 100mm of wire slack on the top of the arm..
Now we can prep the LED strip for the lamp itself.. I have made a channel for the LED strip to be added to the back of the ship and a wire channel to the center of the ship..
The LED cockpit light should have the same channel that goes to the center of the ship..
In the center of the ship i made a space large enough to fit a terminal block.. just wire the LED strip on the back and the cockpit in parallel using the terminal block..
Connect the 5v wire from the arm base with the correct positive and negative ends..and close the 2 halves together.. Make sure the LED wires are not caught when closing the 2 halves..
Clamp the tube rod to the arm and tighten the arm clamps..
There is also a screen for the back thrusters to defuse the light from the LED strip to have an even brightness..
Now all you have to do is test the LED strips on the back and the front cockpit
